AUS appoints a Chief of Protocol
August 23, 2016 · American University of Sharjah
American University of Sharjah appointed Saeed Mohamed Majid Al-Shamsi as the university's Chief of Protocol. He also serves as Special Advisor to the Chancellor and Head of Security, overseeing the university's security team and acting as AUS liaison with government departments, consulates and embassies.
The appointment was approved by His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member, Ruler of Sharjah and President of AUS. Al Shamsi first joined AUS in 1999 as Public Relations Director, having previously worked at the Abu Dhabi Company for Onshore Petroleum Operations (ADCO).
He reports to the Office of the Chancellor and has said the role reflects AUS's commitment to a safe environment for its multicultural community — one that spans 99 nationalities on campus.
